AKIRUN UNVEILS HIS DEVELOPMENT BLUEPRINTS, SUE FOR PEACE AMONG RESIDENTS
Akirun of Ikirun, Oba Olalekan Akadir on Thursday expressed his stance against any form of violence, lawlessness and recourse to self-help, appealing to sons and daughters of Ikirun to remain emotionally stable when expressing their grievances, even in the face of provocation.
The monarch said this in a statement made available to newsmen in Ikirun, sequel to an incident which led to burning of the palace. Kabiyesi described the palace as property of the ancient town which cost their forefathers monies and sweat before it was erected. He cautioned Ikirun indigenes and residents against unlawful acts, he urged them to tow the path of peace, honour and justice in pursuit of their demands.
The monarch also assured residents of the safety of their lives and property. "His Majesty enjoins all parties to desist from all forms of violence and uphold peace, law and order,” the statement added.
In another vein, the monarch appealed to the people of Ikirun to allow the spirit of oneness and sincerity of purpose to reflect in their support and cooperation with him in his quest at ensuring meaningful development in the interest of all.
Oba Akadir pledged to harness the energy and ingenuity of the people of Ikirun to stimulate the social and economic development of the town as he begins his reign.
Kabiyesi in the statement also unfolded his development blueprint for his kingdom pledged to leverage on technology, intelligence gathering, and tap from the abundant human, agricultural, and tourism resources to lift Ikirun to national and international prominence.
